Yesterday morning saw over 250 runners arrive at Dunsfold Park near Cranleigh in Surrey, home of the BBC Top Gear track, for the 2nd annual Jigsaw Run.
With over twice as many participants this year, the races were officially started by honoured guests, Bronze Medal winning Paralympian Rachel Morris and Jigsaw Patron, Kim Robson from 96.4 Eagle Radio.
Here at Informed Choice, we were proud to once again support Jigsaw CABAS® School, (“Outstanding”, Ofsted Oct 2013) based in Surrey and specialists in educating children with an autism spectrum disorder, in sponsoring and organizing the charitable run.
This year, the event looks set to have raised over £3,000 for The Jigsaw Trust.
Following the success of the event last year, it was exciting to see over twice the number of runners sign up this year.
We also added a 3k distance for family or more casual runners to have a go and are very proud that this event is becoming so well thought of amongst the local running community.
Runners had the option to tackle a 10k or a 3k run with the 10k being two laps of Dunsfold Park’s perimeter road whilst the shorter 3k took place on the aerodrome’s main runway.
Both races crossed the famous BBC Top Gear start/finish line with the 10k passing twice by Dunsfold’s resident Boeing 747.
Fastest man on the day was Anthony Meager in an impressive 36:02. Fastest lady for the 10k was Jean Knapp in 42:52.
Leading the 3k fun run was Mike Dodds in 15:56.
Looking ahead to 2014, we are extremely pleased to announce that 96.4 Eagle Radio will be throwing their support behind the event next year to help us all take it to the next level.
Working with The Jigsaw Trust to sponsor and organise the Jigsaw Run at Dunsfold Park is an important part of our contribution to the local community.
We are also supporting Jigsaw this Christmas by donating space in our High Street window display for artwork by the pupils and information about the school, helping to raise their profile in the village.
