It’s amazing what you can do with a blank piece of paper.

 

That’s how Informed Choice began in July 1994, when Andy and Nick Bamford set out to build a truly independent financial planning firm.

 

Their aim was simple: to give clients advice that was right for them, explained clearly, without the jargon that so often surrounds financial services.

 

The business started in the third-floor office of their family home. By September 1996, it had grown enough to move into Sundial House on Cranleigh High Street, which has remained the home of Informed Choice ever since.

 

Nick brought a lifetime of experience in financial services, including technical, marketing, sales and pensions roles. Andy, a qualified Nursery Nurse and full-time mother, taught herself the computer and financial management skills needed to run the business.

 

Together, they built the firm through recommendation, trust and a commitment to putting clients first. Many early clients were financial services professionals looking for independent advice of their own.

 

More than 30 years later, Informed Choice remains family owned by Andy, Nick, and their son Martin, and is run by a dedicated professional team who share the same values: clear advice, transparency, approachability and long-term care.
