Bogus Invesco funds

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has issued a consumer warning after a bogus firm started to target UK investors using the Invesco Perpetual name.

The warning follows an organisation identifying itself to UK investors as Invesco Perpetual (Invesco Asian Precious Metals Fund).

This organisation is not authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 to carry out regulated activities in the UK.

As a result, any investor who buys assets from this organisation would not have any recourse to complain the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) would also be unavailable to investors.

Invesco Perpetual (Invesco Asian Precious Metals Fund) has no connection to Invesco Fund Managers Limited, Invesco Asset Management Limited, Invesco Global Investment Funds Limited or Invesco Perpetual Life Limited, all of which are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Investors should take great care when handing their money over to any organisation.

Checking with the FSA at www.fsa.gov.uk/Pages/register to ensure an individual or firm is authorised is an essential first step before investing money.
