Dementia cure or treatment by 2025

Dementia is in the press this week with the G8 dementia summit taking place in London yesterday.

As a firm of Chartered Financial Planners working with many elderly clients, with specialisms in care fees planning and later life advice, we take an active interest in the topic of dementia.

The aim of the G8 dementia summit was to develop co-ordinated global action on dementia.

It was great to see leading nations commit yesterday to developing a cure or effective treatment for dementia by 2025.

Described by global health minister as a “big ambition”, the goal will see the UK double its annual research funding to £132m by 2025.

We look forward to seeing the appointment of a Dementia Envoy who will help industry and charities boost funding.

Because dementia is currently incurable, it usually results in sufferers requiring long-term care.
