The monster from your famous loch has morphed into first minister His plans and goals are puffs of air, his lies to you quite sinister A vote for your independent state is a vote for ours as well Union now without your folk seems t’us to be quite swell
It’s not time to drift away
The cost of looking after you was cost in more than pence Our tax pounds put to better use is what our Nation craves We don’t know why you want to go it doesn’t make much sense But better off without you and with no debt took to our graves
You didn’t support our football team, we didn’t give a damn We loved your rugged countryside and the salmon leaping high Red deer on your sloping Glens looked graceful as they ran The only thing we might well miss is a Tayside warming dram
Haggis and your Rabbie Burns made no sense to us at all Your use of words like “ken” and “wee” make us smile all the more We know we’re better off with our friends from overseas Scots drain on our economy won’t bring us to our knees You can speak and sing in Gaelic tongue and hand us back our language Your economy is such a mess it will take much more than a bandage
Caledonia’s time to leave England’s not about to grieve Post Union days we’re not afraid It’s not time to drift away
The flower of your Scotland youth now wilting on its stalk You let yourself be cheaply bought by the cheapness that is talk We’re sending you home to think again, you need to give much thought The mess in which you’ll find yourself will be hard lesson taught
It’s not time to drift away
It seems to us you have much changed but little for the bolder Alex is such a balanced chap with one chip on each shoulder But leaving our proud Union is not what you should do Stick with us as a Union and share with us our treasure You’ve been away now coming home is meant to be such pleasure
It’s not time to drift away
Caledonia’s time to leave England’s not about to grieve Post Union days we’re not afraid It’s not time to drift away
