Martin starts by raving about our Financial Planning software, after using it last week to demonstrate to a couple they could afford to retire now rather than waiting.

He talks about his plans to learn to ride a horse and becoming a trustee for 60 acres of community parkland in Cranleigh.

Martin plays a short clip from a catch-up on Skype with his friends Abraham Okusanya and Justin King, who are also Chartered and Certified Financial Planners, where they chat about Martin and Justin’s book, Ready, Steady, Retire!

He mentions A Great Day at the Office by Dr John Briffa and Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

The main topic on the podcast this week is the new BBC cost of care calculator. Martin crunches some numbers for a typical person in Surrey and discovers the new lifetime cap of £72,000 is unlikely to mean much from next April.

He also talks about the Money Advice Service opening their retirement advice directory for registrations and the latest statistics from the Investment Association showing investment fund inflows in 2014.

Martin finishes by mentioning the Unbiased Awards 2015 in London next Wednesday, where he is a finalist for Social Media Adviser of the Year.
