The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,636.64, down 25.78 points or -0.46% on the day and down 13.04 points (-0.23%) over the week.

The market fell during afternoon trading on Friday on fears that Standard & Poor’s was about to downgrade the credit ratings of several eurozone economies, reversing earlier gains from morning trading.

Over a year the FTSE 100 has fallen from 6,023.90, a fall of 387.26 points or -6.43%.

£1 is currently worth $1.53160 US or €1.20800 Euros.

Brent Crude Oil Futures is currently priced at $111.14/barrel. Gold is $1,635.50/ounce and Silver is $29.64/ounce.

The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 4.8% for the year to November 2011.
