The FTSE 100 index of leading UK company shares finished the week at 5,128.48, down 68.36 points or -1.32% on the day and up 74.77 points (+1.48%) over the week.

Shares across Europe ended the trading session lower on Friday, finishing the one of the worst quarters of stock market performance in a decade.

The FTSE 100 is now 13.7% lower than it was at the start of July and this represents its worst quarterly performance since 2002.

Over a year the FTSE 100 has fallen from 5,548.60, a fall of 420.12 points or -7.57%.

£1 is currently worth $1.56250 US or €1.16520 Euros.

Brent Crude Oil Futures is currently priced at $102.66/barrel. Gold is $1,620.00/ounce and Silver is $30.45/ounce.

The UK Bank Rate is 0.5% and CPI inflation was 4.5% for the year to August 2011.
