Informed Choice chartered financial planner Martin Bamford was quoted in the Daily Express today, in an article looking at alternative investments such as gold, art or fine wine.

Martin Bamford, managing director at financial advice firm Informed Choice, says: “Most investors are better off sticking to mainstream investments such as equities and bonds.

“These tend to be cheaper, easier to access and more liquid in the event you need to get your hands on the cash.

“There can be problems with valuing alternative investments which creates the risk that investors can’t find good value. Storage, insurance, fees and selling costs all quickly erode the returns.”
