Week in review

Are assets managers competing effectively to deliver good value for money?

That’s one question being asked by the Financial Conduct Authority as they launch a market study. We explain what they are looking for in this post.

If you’re part of a couple, do you rely on both incomes to survive?

New research has found 3.2 million couples in the UK rely on both incomes to meet their household expenses.

Wednesday was the Autumn Statement and Spending Review, presented in the House of Commons by George Osborne.

We covered proceedings in a live blog, before publishing a free briefing note covering the main personal finance announcements.

As more details emerge from the Autumn Statement, we will be posting more blogs. In the meantime, Martin has written about the social care precept which could raise £2bn a year towards adult social care costs by hiking up council tax bills.

Our podcast episode this week is an Autumn Statement special.

Nick took a trip up to Edinburgh this week, where he was speaking on Thursday at the Personal Finance Society National Financial Planning Symposium.

This was Nick’s third of four keynote presentations for the Personal Finance Society, with the fourth next week in Birmingham.
