Week in review: 11th September 2015

It’s all been happening in Cranleigh this week.

Our local newspaper, the Surrey Advertiser, has a front page splash today about The Faces reunion gig here last weekend, reuniting Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones for the fist time in 40 years.

Friends of ours who attended the gig tell us it was an incredible experience.

On a slightly quieter note, we also spotted on Twitter (rather appropriately) that Whinchats have been spotted around the village this week.

The Whinchat is a small perching bird, with a prominent white stripe above the eye. Our resident ornithologist Nick says they are probably migrating back to Africa after breeding in the UK this summer.

This week on the Informed Choice blog, the team have been writing about the cost of living near the best state secondary schools, whether the US Federal Reserve will raise interest rates later this month, a date announcement for the Autumn Statement, one way of reducing loneliness and isolation for older people, and whether the Chancellor will change pension tax relief from EET to TEE.

In our podcast this week, Martin talks about the causes of inter generational wealth inequity, whether Alzheimer’s disease can be transmitted by medical procedures, and why teenagers are better with money decisions than young adults.
