What you need to know about planning care fees

I was recently asked by Unbiased.co.uk, the home of professional advice, to write an article for them covering what you need to know about planning care fees.

There is no doubt funding the cost of long-term care is becoming an increasingly important consideration for many families across the UK. Here’s what you should know.

We have an aging population in Britain and improved life expectancy suggests time spent during later life in residential care is a growing likelihood.

Compared to 40 years ago, men and women are both living an average of seven years longer. We are living longer lives but these are unfortunately not always healthier lives.

As a result, one in five people over the age of 70 now receive care in the home and there are over 430,000 elderly and disabled people currently living in residential care.

With the elderly population expected to increase by more than 40 per cent over the next 50 years, planning for the cost of care is fast becoming an essential part of Financial Planning.
