Why are IFAs recommending multi-asset funds?

I was invited by BrightTALK to take part in their Multi-Asset Summit today, presenting a live webinar this morning about why IFAs are recommending multi-asset funds.

Multi-asset funds mean different things to different people; the broad definition I considered was a combination of investment asset classes within one fund.

My presentation this morning was based on some recent research which found attitudes towards multi-asset funds becoming more favourable with financial advisers.

With these funds becoming a more popular choice for advisers to recommend to their clients, I explored some of the reasons why and some of the potential drawbacks to using multi-asset funds.

You can now watch a recording of the webinar here:

At the end of my presentation, I posed a question to viewers; what is your preferred investment solution for delivering suitable client outcomes?

33% of respondents said multi-asset funds, 30% opted for risk target managed funds, 22% were in favour of constructing a portfolio of single-asset funds and 15% went with outsourcing to a discretionary fund manager.
