Share your working from home story

This blog is the third piece I have written since starting to work from home.

While the lockdown was only announced last week, I had the week before volunteered to be one member of our team working from home.

A number of us took on this role to create space in our offices in Cranleigh and Petersfield so that staff could have either an office to themselves or could put some distance between themselves and their colleagues.

As well as continuing to work I have also, because of the decent weather we have had, spent some time in the garden building a trusting relationship with the pair of Robins nesting next to my kitchen door.

That trust reached a new level on Saturday morning when they started eating the mealworms I provided from a tray I held in my hand. One of them even briefly landed on my thumb in order to access the food.

On social media, I learned that in Celtic mythology, Robins represents a visit from one of our loved ones who has sadly died, perhaps that is why most people find these inquisitive little birds so adorable.

Their trust in me may have diminished a little on Sunday morning because I had run out of living mealworms and offered them the freeze-dried alternative!

If they could talk, I’m convinced the way they looked at me posed the question, “Are you kidding or what?!”
